Opposite The Cafe

The 25th edition of Deepwoods got underway on 9th Dec at Tambaram. The scene was exciting as the 'Deepwoods 2004 Welcomes You' Arch at the main gate pumped adrelin in high levels. The whole college has been preparing for this event for the past couple of months and looking at the enthu in the spick and span campus, I found myself full of appreciation .

The prayer led by the Principal Dr. Alex at 9:15am marked the formal opening of Deepwoods 2004. The Examination Hall was the place for reception and registration. The colleges which made their presence felt are Stella Maris, Ethiraj(day and evening),WCC(day and evening), Loyola, SRM Eng.,HIndustan, Meenakshi, SaiRam Eng.,Anna University, SVCE, New College and Petrician College.

The euphoria in MCC caught up with all those who stepped into the Deepwoods at MCC. "Temple of Illusions" was the year's theme and the first two days were filled with literary & debating and cultural events. Extempore drama, sketching, quiz, spin-a-yarn, western and eastern dancing, debating, JAM, street play, face painting, western acoustics and Indian music were performed.

Amazing fireworks, (sponsored by Selvaa, Selaiyur 82-85) lit the skies over the woods every evening and the whole Fest was turning out to be literally "Spectacular".

Strange brew from Pune and Moksha rounded off the ShowDown with some heady rock and great rhythm. The latter kept the crowd foot-stomping in the Quadrangle.

The three days also had SS Music cameras trodding the campus and Sify Mobile organising an SMS Contest. Planet M sponsored the Juke Box and it was an instant hit. It was also nice to see a lot of Alumni floating among the crowd enjoying the evening and the nostalgia.
