Opposite The Cafe

DeepWoods, the Madras Christian College Fest is a competitive entertainment event where the higher purposes of creating awareness for social issues cuts through all boundaries of race, sex, religion and academic background; and widens the outlook of everyone who gets involved and leaves everyone with a rich experience.

As history has a way of repeating itself, Deepwoods was naturally a run away success this year. Over the years, Deepwoods has become a tremendous crowd puller and is a venue for the immense cultural talent on the national scenario. The festival is a happy melange of cultural, literary and debating, and art events – making this an exciting potpourri, where even spectators become competitors. For more than a week Tambaram has been experiencing hectic activity.

Incidentally, MCC is celebrating 25 years of Deepwoods. Many colleges made our campus their hang-out last week.

We present here a visual treat from the Fest that was held on a 430+ acre campus on 9th, 10th and 11th of December 2004.

Deepwoods which was started in 1980 was one of the largest college cultural festivals , as very few colleges had earlier organised such an event. They were around 130 colleges from all over India in the 1st DeepWoods,, but as every college celebrate its own event, outstation participation has been coming down.

But even now, Deepwoods is a Fest something that every college student from Chennai and around looks forward to.
